Anne O’Byrne Demolition

The project required the demolition of the 4 storey Anne O’Byrne Building and two ancillary buildings on a site adjacent to the Launceston General Hospital.

Key aspects:

  • Hazell Bros salvaged several large steel beams from the roof structure for reuse
  • 200T of steel was sent for recycling
  • The project required temporary works assessments and staging to be carefully considered.
  • The project utilised a 49T excavator with a long-reach boom and a custom-fitted concrete crushing attachment to undertake the uppermost demolition works
  • Testing and disposal of contaminated material
