Our Work Placement programs are designed to inspire students providing them the opportunity to participate in hands on roles. We offer Work Placement opportunities in our quarries, concrete, materials testing, automotive, fabrication and engineering areas as well as within our civil construction operations.

Beacon Foundation offer us a direct connection with state school students right across Tasmania. In turn, Hazell Bros supports with activities such as site tours, attending school-based information programs as well as hosting work experience and work placement students at our sites.

Our Automotive, Fabricators, Fitting & Machinists, Bodyworks, Civil Construction apprentices, Civil Construction Plant Apprenticeship work side-by-side with experienced tradespeople across Tasmania on routine maintenance and on large scale projects! PLUS all your TAFE course and tuition fees and any travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by us.

Work placement – a short unpaid period of work experience required for a course, focusing on providing exposure to an industry and practical tasks rather than formal, long term skill development or qualification,
Traineeship - a shorter-term paid program similar to an apprenticeship, but in a in a broader range of non-trade industries, also combining on-the-job training, practical work experience with formal off-the-job training, resulting in a nationally recognised qualification, typically lasting one to two years.
Apprenticeship - longer-term, paid program primarily for trades that combines on-the-job training, practical work experience with formal off-the-job training, resulting in a nationally recognised qualification.
We offer Automotive - Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Auto Electrician, Mobile Plant, Spray Painting, Panel Beating, Welding and Mechanical Fitter, Civil Construction apprenticeships in various locations across Tasmania. However, we may not offer all types of apprenticeships in all locations, as they will change each year depending upon upcoming planned projects and skills required in each location.
Depending upon the type of apprenticeship we offer four-year apprenticeships for trades, and three-year apprenticeships for civil construction roles
Apprenticeships generally commence on the mid to late January each year. You will undertake a comprehensive induction hosted in Hobart.

While we can't guarantee a full-time position on completion of your apprenticeship, we are committed to supporting your career development and will work with you closely throughout your apprenticeship to ensure you have full visibility of opportunities that may be made available.
You'll be asked to submit your application, then we shortlist suitable applicants for an interview with our panel. Preferred candidates will then be invited to spend a day on-site with our Operational Supervisors. The application process will also include background tests, and you may need to complete aptitude testing depending on your role.
Make sure to answer the questions outlined in the advertisement in your cover letter. Tell us about any practical and hands-on experience you have, for example, if your hobbies include tinkering with your car, woodwork, welding, etc. start a photo portfolio of some of your work. You must have completed year 10, and it is desirable to have completed or working towards completion of a Certificate II in Automotive, Engineering Pathways, Mechanical Fitting or Civil Construction.

As part of the final stage of recruitment, we will conduct some background checks, these will include references, police check and a medical (don’t worry, all costs associated with this are covered by us).

Absolutely! The only age-related requirement is to have completed year 10 prior to the start date.
Yes. However, to be considered you must have either permanent residency or a Visa that is valid for the duration of the apprenticeship.
