Construction giants swing into action for Mind Games’ mental health fundraiser

The annual Hazell Bros Corporate Golf Day has teed off at Kingston Beach Golf Club, with organisers hoping to beat last year’s impressive $25,000 fundraising total for workplace mental health research.

20 teams hit the greens for the second annual event on Friday, with all proceeds going to the Menzies Institute for Medical Research through The Mind Games initiative.

Hazell Bros, now a Gold Sponsor of The Mind Games 2025, drew support from big-name companies including William Adams CAT, Wilson Homes, Komatsu, Toyota and Isuzu.

"Understanding mental health is at forefront of our business," Hazell Bros managing director Geoffrey Hazell said.

"We're getting tremendous support from our industry. We’ve got people coming from the north of the island, people from the mainland coming down to be part of the day."

The day featured hole sponsorships, raffles, and a silent auction, with prizes generously donated by Qantas, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, Wicked Workwear and other local businesses.

Sherri Ring, creator and CEO of The Mind Games, said the golf day was a welcome addition to the growing movement.

"[It] is a fantastic addition to The Mind Games, helping to spread the important message about the value of preventive mental health initiatives in workplaces across Tasmania," she said.

The main Mind Games event will be held at Hobart’s Princes Wharf 1 on November 6.
