Hazell Bros has been awarded the contract to raise the height of earth walls over two separate existing dams to create a new tailings facility to extend the life of the Rosebery Mine and address operational environmental issues. Major works items include: drill and blast to win material; bulk earthworks; installation of bituminous liner; and construction of a perimeter grout curtain.
The Rosebery Mine is located some 300 kilometres north-west of Hobart and 125 kilometres south of Burnie.
The contract value is approximately $31M with works commencing in February 2016 and continuing for a period of around 16 months.
This project will showcase Hazell Bros’ integrated business model and will call on resources from not only our civil construction business but also from our quarrying and concrete and earthmoving and transport businesses. In addition we will be looking to engage local contractors and workers to supplement our own workforce.
