Hazell Bros Northern Region has recently been awarded three contracts for the Department of Main Roads Queensland.
Mt Lindsay Highway – Wide Centreline Treatment and Shoulder Widening
These works commenced on site mid-September and consist of pavement overlay and widening of 1 km of the existing Mt Lindsay Highway, 75km south of Brisbane. This $1.3M project is expected to be complete within 12 weeks with the works resulting in a significantly safer stretch of highway which previously had a high number of vehicle accidents.
Rosewood – Laidley Rd (safety Improvements Works)
This section of road was being used as a ‘backroad’ by locals, which has resulted in a number of vehicle accidents. This 27 week project commenced at the beginning of October and requires the upgrading of a 3.75km section of the road. Due to the undulating terrain, the scope includes substantial clearing and earthworks, both stormwater culvert & pavement widening and over 2.7km of guardrail. This $4.9M project is located just west of Grandchester, 77km west of Brisbane.
Warrego Highway Intersection Upgrade – Sabine-Jondaryan Road
This $3.3M project, due to commence in November, involves the upgrade of the intersection to provide deceleration and turning lanes in both directions, including granular pavement overlay, widening and 8000 tonne of asphalt. The existing street lighting will also be upgraded to provide a better lit and safer intersection. Due to our innovative construction staging, we were able to provide a submission based on a 14 week construction period which was almost half the contract duration specified.
